What is the difference between a single and double panel radiator?
Online Answer
Single panel convector radiators will emit less heat than their double counterparts, due to only having one long panel that sits against the wall, whereas with a double panel, two panels will sit on the outside of the convector fins. This essentially means there is less of a surface area for heat to come from.

They give out more heat (and you cant get something for nothing) so they cost more to run. The reason for doubles is to give a high output for taking up less wall space. If you put a long single in a room as against a small double (both with the same btu rating). The net result would be the same.
